Spamming Hijack
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7719281.stm
Seven computer guys hijacked a chunk of the botnet called Storm to launch their own spam campaign, fake pharmacy website and all, to see just how many people they could nab. They sent out 350 MILLION emails in 30 days, got 28 responses, and would have made about $100 a day (their operation stopped short by not having a working payment system). Using this rate of profit, they estimate that spammers make about $3.5 million a year with all their emails and fake Canadian pharmacy websites. Kinda sucks that so many pharmacy websites out there are fake, considering people want to turn to cheaper sources of medicine only to fall into the hands of spammers. From the pic in the article, it seems that the site they made up looked convincing enough.

Not surprising. People will do anything to make a buck, and the people they hurt will do anything to get things for cheap.
